River Past Talkative is an easy to use program that converts written text to spoken audio. It can be used to proof read your own writing, listen to news, emails, website content while you are busy with other tasks.
This application can also record speech to audio files, and lets you control output settings like format, compressor, sample rate, bit rate, channels, bits per sample, etc.
Supported Formats include AIFF/AIFC Apple, MPEG-4 Audio, MPEG Layer-3, MPEG Audio, OGG Vorbis, RealAudio, Waveform, Windows Media Audio. Some of these formats require you to install booster packs with an additional cost to work.
This is a useful tool for people who prefer to multitask and want to listen to text instead of reading it. Voices are still robotic so you might not get used to it easily but If you want to test this software, a free trial is available for download.
